Commonly Asked Questions
Are my contributions tax-deductible?
Devon Preparatory School is a non-profit organization as provided under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax deductible in accordance with state and federal tax laws. The application of such laws varies with individual circumstances. Upon receipt of your contribution, we will send you an acknowledgement letter for your records.
Why should I give monthly?
Sustained giving allows Devon Prep to forecast more accurately for the future. They allow the School more flexibility in budgeting financial needs and operating expenses. Recurring gifts are easy to set up and they allow you to make substantial contributions in more manageable increments. If you contribute monthly, you will receive a Year-End Statement and acknowledgement letter in January for your records.
Do you accept Gifts-in-Kind?
Gifts in kind are greatly appreciated at Devon Prep. If you have a specific gift you would like to donate to the School or if you are interested in inquiring about what may be needed, please contact the Development Office at development@devonprep.com.
Can you explain the pledge process?
Development staff will work with you to create a pledge and payment schedule that provides you with the flexibility needed to complete all of your payments. Pledges over a three to five year period are encouraged and pledge reminders are sent in accordance with the schedule you select.
Although a pledge is not legally binding, we ask that you do your best and advise us of any financial changes that will impact fulfilling your pledge.
All pledges are confidential – only the people responsible for maintaining the records will have access to your pledge.
What is the difference between the Annual Fund and the Capital Campaign?
Devon Prep relies on the Annual Fund to offset the difference between tuition payments and what it actually costs to educate them in the best, most holistic way possible.
Periodically we run a Special Campaign to support capital improvements such as needed upgrades to current facilities, construction of new buildings, or additions to the endowment funds. During these campaigns, we ask for constituents to make pledges above and beyond their regular annual giving.
Both types of fundraising efforts ensure that Devon Prep can continue to grow and excel in all things.
