Music at Devon Prep
The Music Program at Devon Prep supports students of all abilities and talents. There is a wide range of musical groups that cater to the different interests of students. A few of these include Choral Tide, Jazz Band, Middle School Ensemble Band, Music Ministry and the Rock Band. With so many different musical options to choose from the students can find an area that interests their personal tastes.
Choral Tide
Choral Tide is our general choir open to vocal artists of all different levels. They participate in three formal evening concerts during the school year, as well as embark on occasional service performance opportunities. ChoralTide practices during the school day and counts for class credit.
Jazz Band
The Jazz Band is open to high school musicians of all levels willing to learn and play a Jazz instrument. They participate in three formal evening concerts during the school year, as well as embark on occasional service performance opportunities. The Jazz Band practices during the school day and counts for class credit.
Music Ministry
This musical group focuses on religious compositions and performs their pieces at special holiday Mass. They play for the whole school during religious ceremonies. Vocalists and instrumental musicians are open to take part.
Middle School Music
Students in 6th grade can choose to enroll in the Middle School Ensemble. Ensemble students will work on the foundations of music literacy, ear training, and practical technique for the student’s chosen instrument. Students interested in Ensemble in 7th and 8th grade will be able to attend one rehearsal a cycle instead of his normally scheduled class. There will also be a Music Production class offered as an elective to the 7th and 8th Grade. Middle School Music Club opportunities include Middle School Rock Band.
Rock Band
This Band focuses on Rock as their main playing style. Directed by Mr. Matt Radomile, member of local rock band Rad and Kel, Devon Alumni ’09. This group is open to musicians with a developed talent who would like to perform with a group of their peers that share a similar taste and style of music. They participate in three formal evening concerts during the school year, as well as embark on occasional service performance opportunities. The Rock Band practices during the school day and counts for class credit.
